Sonic Mania has a host of modes that include Competition and Time Attack. Some levels are larger than others, but they all have alternate paths that reward exploration. There are lots of hidden pathways to unearth, too. It's a much-appreciated change that improves the Sonic the Hedgehog experience. They're designed to keep Sonic moving at a high speed, as they feature less of the stop-and-go gameplay that came as the result of the older titles' platforming obsession. It's a great addition.īetter still, Sonic Mania's stages are the best in the hedgehog's history. The move is designed to help newcomers keep Sonic's speedy fast-paced flow, but vets are sure to use it to maintain a near-continuous dash through new and remixed stages.
